The Technology Service Providers Association of Kenya (TESPOK) and Mozilla, partnered to host the Lean data practice (LDP) for the first time in Africa. The two-day workshop took place in Nairobi, Kenya at the Sarova PanAfric Hotel on the 7th<\/sup> and 8th<\/sup> May 2019. The training was aimed at driving a practical conversation around how companies can better protect user data, and the multiple incentives to do so. \u00a0This workshop was well aligned with TESPOKs vision on being a healthy \u201cEnabler of ICT growth and development\u201d and also brought on board Mozilla as a new partner.<\/p>\n

The growth of ICT hasn\u2019t left the African continent behind as its effects can be felt. This is timely as the proposed Data Protection bill of 2018 which the Kenyan Parliament is likely to consider next month will have ripple effects on any sector collecting and handling Data. \u00a0In Kenya today, citizens are required to have a Huduma Number where one has to provide a lot of personal data to attain one. This is happening while the Data Protection bill has not yet been implemented.<\/p>\n
